Bald Eagle Hit By Car In Moncks Corner Rescued

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – A Berkeley Electric Cooperative employee came to the rescue of a young bald eagle injured after it was hit by a car Monday.

According to the electric utility, the eagle was struck while eating fish in the middle of Cypress Gardens Road in Moncks Corner.

Dean Frey, one of the utility company’s member service technicians, witnessed the accident and pulled over to help the injured bird.

A Good Samaritan also stopped and offered to transport the eagle to the Birds of Prey Center in Awendaw where it can recover.

Fun fact: Since 1782, the bald eagle has been the United States’ national emblem and mascot. The bald eagle is found only in North America.
