BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Due to the potential for severe weather, the Berkeley County School District announced that Friday, Jan. 21, will be an eLearning Day for all students.

Students will learn from home on Friday and complete eLearning Day assignments.

All before and after school activities, including aftercare programs and athletics, are canceled for Friday, Jan. 21.

Athletics and extracurricular activities are cancelled through the weekend and will not resume until Monday, Jan. 24.

Students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Google classroom or another designated virtual learning platform. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s school and/or teacher.

Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home.

Due to the potential for severe weather on Friday, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students, staff and families, the district said it will not operate virtual feeding sites.

“BCSD officials work in partnership with the Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness Department and will receive regular updates regarding the weather from the National Weather Service,” the school district posted on its official Facebook page. “As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the weather and assess any resulting damage.”

Schools and offices will reopen and resume normal operations on Monday, Jan. 24.
