MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Comcast recently announced it is expanding its broadband network to residents in Moncks Corner.  Comcast has already reached a large portion of the region and plans to complete its expansion throughout the year.

“As we continue to navigate the impact of the pandemic, it is clear how critical it is to keep residents connected,” said Jason Gumbs, Regional SVP at Comcast. “We are thrilled to deliver broadband services to more South Carolinians with the goal of bridging the digital divide.”

In addition to Comcast’s traditional services, residential customers in Moncks Corner will have access to the following:

  • Xfinity xFi, allowing high-speed Internet customers to personalize and control their in-home Wi-Fi experience;
  • Xfinity Flex, a simplified streaming solution for Xfinity Internet customers who do not want traditional TV video service;
  • Xfinity Mobile, which combines America’s largest and most reliable 5G network with millions of secure Xfinity WiFi hotspots to deliver a great wireless experience;
  • The X1 entertainment platform and voice remote; and
  • Xfinity Home, a total home security and automation solution

According to the company, the expansion will also provide access to Comcast’s Internet Essentials program, the nation’s largest and most successful broadband adoption initiative for low-income families in Berkeley County. Internet Essentials provides low-cost broadband service for $9.95 a month, digital literacy training and discounted computers.

Nationally, over the past five years and across Comcast’s service areas, the company has quadrupled its overall network capacity and doubled its fiber miles; deployed gigabit speeds to more homes than any other Internet Service Provider; upgraded all its speed tiers; and rolled out an entirely new class of gateways – the xFi Gateway and the xFi Advanced Gateway which are designed for higher speeds and blanket most homes with Wi-Fi coverage.
