Man Charged In Fatal Moncks Corner Shooting, Victim Identified

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A man is in jail following a fatal shooting in the Moncks Corner area Friday.

Esau Branch, Sr., 58, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

He was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center and was denied bond.

Deputies said the fatal shooting happened on Mitton Road. The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Ollie Manigo, 37.

Chief Deputy Coroner Darnell Hartwell said that his office was contacted on Saturday by a local hospital in reference to a victim that was pronounced dead as a result of the shooting.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sherriff’s Office continue to investigate.
