BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A tornado watch is in effect for Berkeley County until 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch means weather conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop.

The watch is also in effect for nearby counties, including Charleston and Dorchester.

Gusty winds are expected to develop over Lake Moultrie, prompting possibly a lake wind advisory.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are also expected Wednesday and Wednesday night. Some thunderstorms could become severe with damaging wind gusts, large hail and isolated tornadoes, the National Weather Service warned.

Relay any reports of hazardous weather including, but not limited to large hail, damaging winds and flooding to the National Weather Service in Charleston at 1-888-383-2024.
