HANAHAN, S.C. – A Lowcountry lottery winner is sharing his $100,000 prize with his mom.

“She’s making a list,” the son laughed.

He won the cash playing Palmetto Cash 5 and says his intuition told him to drop by the Lowes Foods #279 on Tanner Ford Blvd. in Hanahan and get a ticket. He got a quick pick of the numbers 8, 11, 23, 31 and 37 for the drawing on Sunday, June 26.

The next day he scanned the ticket at a store and the message read to “Claim at Lottery.” He says his heart started racing, because he knew that meant the prize was more than the $500 the retailer could pay. He got back in his car and looked up the winning numbers and saw all five numbers matched for the $100,000 win.

“I screamed for joy,” he said. “I want to help Mom.”

For selling the claimed ticket, Lowes Foods #279 in Hanahan received a commission of $1,000.

The odds of winning $100,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.
