2 Students With Guns At Philip Simmons High School In Custody: Deputies

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that involved firearms on the campus of Philip Simmons High School, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation led to two juvenile students being placed in custody after the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies and school officials said they began an investigation Friday regarding a possible weapon on the school campus.

During the investigation, deputies said one student was detained and another fled from officials at the campus. Officials recovered two firearms from the juveniles.

The school is secured and there are no students in danger. Deputies initiated the call for service at 2:46 p.m. Friday.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Berkeley County School District continue to investigate.
