BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Local charities received more than $107,000 thanks to the generosity of those who visited the 2022 Celebrate The Season’s Holiday Lights Driving Tour, according to Santee Cooper. Since the event began in 2011, it has helped raise nearly $1.2 million.

During the 12th annual event, almost 9,000 vehicles traveled the mile-long drive from Santee Cooper headquarters to Old Santee Canal Park to marvel at the thousands of festive holiday lights powered by 100% Green Power from Santee Cooper.

“I’m delighted, but not surprised, at the outpouring of support from the community,” said Santee Cooper President and CEO Jimmy Staton. “This includes local sponsors old and new, including our presenting sponsor Berkeley Electric Cooperative, that helped make many people’s holidays brighter.”

Thanks to everyone’s support, the Town of Moncks Corner Miracle Field Project and the Coastal Community Foundation’s Giving Back to Berkeley Fund each received $41,963, and the Berkeley County Museum and Heritage Center received $10,000.

Celebrate The Season’s top sponsors designate charities of their choice to receive their donations. Home Telecom chose Home Community Fund, Berkeley County Parks, Recreation and Tourism chose the Berkeley Animal Center, and Berkeley Electric and Southard Bros. Construction’s share will go to the Callen Lacey Center. Each of these sponsors are donating $3,405 to their respective charities.
