Hanahan Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting In Dorchester County

HANAHAN, S.C. – A Hanahan man is now in custody following a fatal shooting that occurred last week, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Savion Avante Scott, 20, of Hanahan has been charged with murder, DCSO Lt. Rick Carson said.

The shooting took place in front of 156 Dorchester Manor Blvd. in North Charleston around 4:15 p.m., deputies said. Scott is accused of gunning down Thomas Anthony Carter, 21, of North Charleston.

Deputies said they found Carter in the driveway of a house halfway under a blue pickup truck.

“I started administering first aid to the victim, placing a chest seal on his front and back where there appeared to be holes from an apparent gunshot wound,” a deputy wrote in the police report.

With assistance from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Hanahan Police Department, Charleston Police Department, and the North Charleston Police Department, Scott was located Wednesday night and taken into custody, authorities said.
