Residents Safely Evacuate Goose Creek House Fire

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Residents were able to safely escape their home when a portion of it caught fire early Thursday morning.

According to the Goose Creek Fire Department, firefighters responded to a fire on the 400-block of Annette Drive in Goose Creek just before 4 a.m. Thursday.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found an attached outbuilding in the back of the single-family home on fire.

Firefighters said the residents inside the home were able to evacuate the house prior to the fire department’s arrival.

The first arriving crews quickly stretched attack lines to contain and extinguish the fire. At 4:06 a.m. the fire was extinguished.

Crews said the made sure all residents inside the home were accounted for.

The fire was primarily contained to the room of origin with some extension into the attic space.

A significant portion of the home did have smoke damage, and the residents were unable to return to it, firefighters said.

Firefighters said the initial investigation indicates that the origin of the fire was in the laundry area inside the attached outbuilding.

The fire is currently under investigation, but firefighters said it’s not considered suspicious at this time. Damage to the property is estimated at $50,000.

Firefighters from Goose Creek Rural Fire Department, JB Charleston Fire & Emergency Services , and North Charleston Fire Department assisted GCFD with the fire.
