MONCKS CORNER S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night. He is William Fennell, 49, from Moncks Corner.
Coroner Darnell Hartwell said his office was contacted at 10:41 p.m. for an auto vs. pedestrian accident that occurred on South Live Oak Drive.
Several witnesses stated that the pedestrian was lying in the roadway only for a short period of time before being fatally struck, Hartwell said.
Fennell was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Berkeley County Sherriff’s Office, Berkeley County EMS and the Whitesville Fire Department responded to the incident.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
