GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) invites ages 12 and older to experience Hawai’ian culture and dance with Intro to Hula Class on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Goose Creek Library located at 325 Old Moncks Corner Road in Goose Creek.

Customers will learn about the Hawai’ian culture and history, hula dance, have fun, and perform!  Shantel Rasure is the current head instructor, and a member of Pu’uwai Ho’āno ‘O Leikela Group, a hula group, in the Charleston area.  She is from Hawai’i, speaks Hawai’ian, and has been dancing many different styles during her lifetime.

“If this is something you have always wanted to do, a new hobby you are picking up, getting some exercise, or just wanting to meet new people, welcome,” said hula instructor, Shantel Rasure. “We hope that you take something away with you when you visit: A new word, a new move or even a new friend. We have a family here, and many of us have found a home away from home in this group. We look forward to sharing the Hawai’ian culture and dance with you.”
