2 Face Meth Charges After High-Speed Chase In Bonneau: BCSO

BONNEAU, S.C. – A man and woman are facing multiple drug-related charges following a high-speed chase recently through Bonneau, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Recently, agents from the Berkeley County Narcotics Task Force conducted surveillance in the Bonneau area following citizen complaints of suspicious activity.

Agents said they observed a vehicle in the area that committed a traffic violation and they attempted to pull the vehicle over.

The driver, later identified as, 57-year-old Abdullah Waliyy, then immediately made a U-turn and took off in the vehicle at a high rate of speed, deputies said.

Deputies said the vehicle chase continued through Bonneau and eventually ended in the driveway of a residence on Cedar Street, where Waliyy fled on foot.

The passenger, who was later identified s Kathy Roberts, remained in the vehicle and was immediately detained, deputies said. Agents continued the foot pursuit of Waliyy and after a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

During the foot pursuit, it was discovered that Waliyy dropped a blue plastic Ziploc bag, deputies said. It was recovered by agents and inside was approximately 32 grams of a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Agents then conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle and located Roberts’ purse. Inside of her purse agents said they located plastic bags that contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 6.2 grams.

Waliyy was arrested and charged with failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest, driving under suspension, simple possession of marijuana and trafficking methamphetamine 28 grams – 100 grams. According to the sheriff’s office, he’s been arrested at least four times in Berkeley County. Those charges include driving under suspension, assault and battery and simple possession of marijuana.


Roberts was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. According to the sheriff’s office, she’s been arrested before for possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit contains members of the Hanahan, Goose Creek and Moncks Corner police departments as well as deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
