HUGER, S.C. – Rescue crews airlifted one person to a nearby hospital after their 18-wheeler hauling logs flipped over.

The Cainhoy Fire Department responded to the intersection of Highway 402 and North Hampton Road in Huger just before 3 p.m. Wednesday for the wreck.

Crews said they arrived on scene to find the semi and its load overturned.

“After further assessment of the scene, crews found one patient involved who was heavily entrapped within the cab of the truck,” the department posted to social media.

Firefighters said they worked an extended period of time to free the driver who was then transported to a landing zone at the intersection of Hwy. 41 and Steed Creek Road. They were then flown to a nearby trauma center in stable condition.

Multiple other agencies assisted the Cainhoy Fire Department at the location.

Rescue crews did not say what led to the crash.
