MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Children in Crisis hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Nov. 16 at the site of the future Berkeley Children’s Advocacy Center, located at 120 Executive Parkway in Moncks Corner.

Special guests in attendance included SC House Representatives Jordan Pace, Mark Smith, and Robby Robbins; Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb; Berkeley County Council Members Tommy Newell, Phillip Obie II, and Marshall West; Town of Moncks Corner Mayor Pro-Term David Dennis; Town of Moncks Corner Council Member Jay Law; City of Hanahan Mayor Christie Rainwater; and City of Hananan Council Member Ken Boggs.

According to representatives for the facility, the new Berkeley Children’s Advocacy Center will allow Children in Crisis the opportunity to serve their Berkeley County clients more efficiently and ease the burden of having to travel to Summerville to receive services.

This center would not be possible if not for the Cumbie Family of Moncks Corner and True Homes Builders. The Cumbie Family, who were looking for a way to honor their parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Bonnie Cumbie, blessed Children in Crisis with a donation of a 1.64-acre lot in Stoney Landing Executive Park in Moncks Corner.

True Homes chose Children in Crisis to be the recipient of a brand new home for the center, which will be equivalent to the size of a five-bedroom home.
