Pedestrian Killed On Hwy. 52 In Moncks Corner: Police

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Moncks Corner Police Department is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and vehicle. Police said the crash happened Monday on Hwy. 52 and Nelson Ferry Road around 1:15 p.m.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian stepped out into the lane of travel from the median and was struck by the vehicle. 

EMS transported the pedestrian to Trident Medical Hospital where they were pronounced dead.  No one else was injured as a result of the collision, according to police.     

Investigators closed all lanes of Hwy. 52 between R.C. Dennis and Hwy. 17-A while they completed their investigation. The road reopened around 2:45 p.m.

This fatal collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation is asked to contact the Berkeley County Dispatch Center at (843) 719-4169. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased pedestrian.
