ST. STEPHEN, S.C. – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left two people injured in St. Stephen over the weekend.
According to Cpl. Carli Drayton, around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, a deputy was conducting extra patrols in the 3800 block of Byrnes Drive in the St. Stephen area.
While doing so, an active shootout between several people began.
Drayton said the deputy located the area where the shots came from and found a man injured from gunfire.
Later, deputies located another person on Russellville Road that had been shot, she said.
Both people were transported to an area hospital for their injuries. Berkeley County deputies continue to investigate the shooting.
