6 Arrested in Goose Creek Drug Bust After Citizen Tip

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – A tip from a concerned citizen led to a drug bust at a Goose Creek residence, resulting in six arrests and the seizure of multiple illegal substances, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began in February after the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force received reports of suspected drug activity at a home on Plainfield Avenue in the Goose Creek area. On April 9, deputies executed a search warrant at 2 Plainfield Ave., where they discovered cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills.

Six individuals were arrested at the scene, one of whom had active arrest warrants at the time of the operation.

The following suspects were charged:

  • Eddie Devore – Trafficking cocaine (10–28 grams), trafficking crack cocaine (28–100 grams)
  • Jason Gantt – Possession with intent to distribute (PWID) cocaine, PWID Schedule I–III controlled substance
  • Carolynn Wright – Possession of crack cocaine, possession of a Schedule I–V controlled substance
  • Earl White – Possession of crack cocaine
  • Leroy Reid – Possession of crack cocaine
  • Dniyah Green – Unlawful neglect of a child

In addition, arrest warrants have been issued for Schantrice Rutledge, who is wanted on charges of trafficking cocaine (10–28 grams) and trafficking crack cocaine (28–100 grams).

Deputies seized the following during the search:

  • 86.78 grams of crack cocaine
  • 15.56 grams of cocaine
  • 56.25 grams of marijuana
  • 19 dosage units of oxycodone
  • One dosage unit of alprazolam

“This case highlights the importance of community involvement in helping us keep our neighborhoods safe,” Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “I encourage our citizens to continue to report suspicious behavior. We are committed to investigating and shutting down drug distribution operations throughout Berkeley County.”

The Berkeley County Narcotics Task Force includes investigators from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Goose Creek Police Department, Hanahan Police Department and Moncks Corner Police Department.
