Woman Arrested After Shooting, Standoff in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A Summerville woman has been arrested following a shooting and hours-long standoff in the Summerville area of Berkeley County, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, BCSO said. At approximately 12:30 p.m., Berkeley County deputies responded to a report of gunfire on Irby Drive. A caller told dispatch that someone had shot at her home. When deputies arrived, they found evidence of gunfire and damage to the residence.

Following an initial investigation, authorities identified Jackie Desirae Hinson Justice, 41, as the suspect. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Deputies said they attempted to contact Justice, but she did not respond. As a result, the Berkeley County Special Response Team, Criminal Investigations Division, and Crisis Negotiators were deployed to the scene.

Justice was taken into custody without further incident shortly before 5 p.m. She has been charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
