MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A wave of lottery luck is sweeping through Moncks Corner, where five winning tickets over the past three months have netted players more than $2.8 million, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The largest prize — a $2 million Powerball® win — came from a ticket purchased at Parkers #70 on South Highway 52. Lottery officials say the winner opted for a quick pick and now plans to retire.

Other notable wins include a $500,000 scratch-off prize sold at Wildwood on South Live Oak Drive and a $200,000 scratch-off ticket purchased at 52 Station on Old Highway 52. That winner told officials he bought the ticket along with a drink on his way to work and plans to invest the money.

A $100,000 prize was awarded through the Carolina/Clemson Second-Chance Promotion, with the winner choosing to save the windfall. Another player won $18,900 on a Pick 4 ticket purchased at Village Grocery on Highway 402.

The winning streak has also paid off for local retailers. Each store that sold a winning ticket received a commission of one percent of the prize amount.

While lottery officials say wins of this scale are largely driven by chance, the recent cluster of prizes has put Moncks Corner squarely in the spotlight as a lucky destination for hopeful players.
