BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.โFemale law enforcement officers all over the country are standing behind a little girl who stands behinds the thin blue line.
Kinley Goertler, 4, was shopping with her mom recently in Washington when she found a SWAT police uniform and picked it out as her Halloween costume. The only problem was Kinley noticed that it was described as a โboyโs costume.โ
โI got it for her anyways and told her that cops could be girls, too,โ Goertler told ABC News. โI could tell she was still bothered and it bothered me as a mom, so I posted about it on Facebook as just a โmom rantโ for our family and friends.โ
That Facebook rant quickly caught the attention of female police officers all over the country which, in turn, spawned the โGirl Cops Are Awesomeโ movement.
Recently, several female police officers with the Goose Creek Police Department rallied behind โOfficer Kinley,” sending the little girl their well wishes.
โWelcome to the blue sisterhood, Kinley,โ they wrote. โWe are strong. We are fierce. We are proud. We are blue.โ
The little girl says when she grows up, she hopes to one day be an officer, too.
โShe has no doubts about it whatsoever right now,โ her mom said.

Her page currently reads:
“Kinley loves receiving messages of pictures from Police Officers around the U.S! She supports her Officers and loves them very much.”
