
With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the City of Goose Creek is hoping to do its part to bring awareness to the problem by inviting the public to a special event that addresses the issue.
The City of Goose Creek and Joint Base Charleston Family Advocacy are presenting a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. The gathering will be held at the Goose Creek Municipal Center.
The featured speaker will be domestic violence survivor Joneatha Carter. Everyone is invited to attend.
Year after year, South Carolina continues to rank among the worst states in domestic violence. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley officially proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the state earlier this fall.
