Sheriff Deputies and Moncks Corner Police Bust Drug Operation

three suspectsBERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Sheriff Duane Lewis announced Wednesday that the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Moncks Corner Police Department served a search warrant at 111 North Live Oak Drive.

Deputies say the occupants of the house were targets of an investigation related to illegal narcotics sales.

After multiple controlled buys of cocaine base from the one of the home’s occupants, suspect Tony Lamar Rucker, a search warrant was sought for the residence.

The Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed the search warrant and took the occupants of the home into custody.

The SRT team was utilized due to the nature of the offense, the history of activity with the individuals involved and out of precaution so as to be able to execute the search warrant and arrest warrants with minimal resistance. Located in the residence was the following items:

• 12 gross grams of cocaine base

• 2 gross grams of heroin

• 35 gross grams marijuana individually packaged for sale

• Hydrocodone pills (44), a Schedule II narcotic

• Xanax pills (35), a Schedule IV narcotic

• Roxy (16), a Schedule II narcotic

• Taurus 9mm semi-auto pistol

• Misc. drug paraphernalia.

Prior to the execution of the search warrant a traffic stop was conducted on Tony Lamar Rucker. Located in the vehicle were the following items:

• 9 gross grams of cocaine base

• 3 gross grams of cocaine

• 1 gross gram of marijuana

Sheriff Duane Lewis stated, “At the Sheriff’s Office, we are very pleased to be able to get these dangerous criminals, their drugs and a firearm off of the streets. Drug dealing is a serious problem that eats away at the very fabric of our society. As Sheriff, I am committed to making Berkeley County a place where drug dealers think twice before they set up shop. I am appreciative that our partners at Moncks Corner Police Department were able to assist with this case.”
