Berkeley County Unemployment Rate Drops To Lowest In Over 15 Years

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. โ€“ According to the latest data from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, Berkeley Countyโ€™s unemployment rate has fallen below 4% for two consecutive months โ€“ 3.6% in November 2016 and 3.7% in December 2016.

This is the first time since September and October 2002 that Berkeley County has seen two consecutive months with an unemployment rate under 4%.

The last time Berkeley County experienced an unemployment rate lower than those in November and December of 2016 was in April of 2001, when it reached 3.5%.

โ€œBerkeley County is open for business, and Berkeley County means business,โ€ said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler. โ€œBy working aggressively to not only recruit new industry to the county but also to support our existing industries, Berkeley County is seeing tremendous success and opportunities for our residents.โ€
