BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley County leaders joined state and healthcare officials on Wednesday to mark a major expansion of medical care in the region with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the MUSC Health Clements Ferry Pavilion, a new multispecialty medical facility designed to bring care closer to home for residents of Berkeley and Charleston counties.

The four-story, 80,000-square-foot medical office building officially opened in December 2025 and is expected to play a key role in meeting the healthcare needs of one of the Lowcountryโ€™s fastest-growing corridors.

County officials say the project reflects a shared vision between local government and healthcare leaders to align services with population growth and improve access to essential care.

โ€œThis project achieves a major strategic objective for us at the County as we strive to place medical care, jobs, commercial retail and many other community needs close to where people live,โ€ said Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb. โ€œWe are thankful to MUSC for investing in medical care in our county and helping to improve the overall quality of life for our residents.โ€

MUSC Health leaders say the new pavilion is part of a broader effort to expand services across rapidly developing areas of the region.

โ€œWe are proud to bring MUSC services and expertise to this community,โ€ said Dr. Eugene Hong, chief physician executive for MUSC Physicians and MUSC Health. โ€œMUSC is positioned to match the rapid growth across Berkeley and Charleston counties by strategically expanding its facilities, services and clinical capabilities to ensure residents have access to world-class care close to home.โ€

The Clements Ferry Pavilion brings a wide range of coordinated healthcare services under one roof, employing approximately 180 physicians and care team members. Patients will have access to more than a dozen specialties, including adult and pediatric primary care, advanced imaging, orthopedics, physical and occupational therapy, ophthalmology, heart and vascular care, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology and infusion services.

MUSC officials say the scope of services was shaped by a comprehensive review of community needs, allowing the health system to close existing gaps in care while preparing for future demand. In addition to core offerings, the multispecialty clinic provides access to surgery, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, neurosurgery and other specialty services.

Local leaders describe the facility as a milestone that underscores the importance of collaboration between public and private partners as Berkeley County continues to grow.

The new pavilion is expected to serve as a regional healthcare hub, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for specialized care while supporting economic development along the Clements Ferry Road corridor.
