BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Miss South Carolina Teen Erica Wilson of Moncks Corner is gearing up for the week long National Teen Princess America competition in Orlando, Florida.

“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this journey,” her mom, Mary Wilson, requested.

The competition starts on July 14th and ends on July 19th.

If Erica takes home the crown, she’ll receive a $2,000 cash scholarship,  travel allowances, paid appearances, gifts galore, modeling opportunities, professional representation and much more!

According to the pageant’s website, its competitions are a little different from others out there.

“We are a cutting edge, fashion forward, self expressive, trendy pageant for the millennium!” stated pageant organizers on the website.

Phases of competition include personal expression on the runway, private interviews with celebrity judges, elegance in evening wear and physical fitness.

During Erica’s stay in Florida, she will be visiting Give Kids The World, a nonprofit that gives terminally ill children and their families a fantasy vacation at absolutely no cost.

The Princess America pageant helps to sponsor this 70-acre resort.

Erica is currently a rising senior at Berkeley High School.

She says her hope is to eventually attend Duke University, the University of North Carolina or Wake Forest and pursue a career in the medical field.

A passion for animals, she has also set up a charity called Last Chance For Love.  The organization takes in animals scheduled to be euthanize and financially sponsors them until they are adopted.
