This year, the US Fish & Wildlife Service has added 20 additional days to the dove hunting season in South Carolina. This means that the dove season will be 90 days, rather than the 70 days that it has been in the past.

The 2014-2015 mourning dove season has been decided as September 1-6 (from noon until sunset); September 7-October 11; November 15-29; and December 13-January 15.

Legal hunting hours for the season–excluding September 1-6–are from 30 minutes prior to sunrise until sunset. Daily bag limit is 15 birds per day.

The good news for dove hunters doesn’t stop there–according to Clemson Extension Service Guidelines, this year SC hunters may also hunt doves over fields which have been top sown with wheat between October 1 and November 30.

Spreading rates may not exceed 200 pounds of wheat per acre. Be sure not to pile, clump, or concentrate wheat in any areas.
