BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley County Spokesperson Michael Mule, Sheriff Duane Lewis will address a deputy-involved shooting and chase Thursday at 3:30 p.m. outside the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
“The sheriffs from the other jurisdictions involved in today’s incident will not be in attendance but are expected to address their departments’ involvement later today from their respective counties,” stated Mule.
Chief Deputy Michael Cochran confirmed that prior to the shooting, there was a chase that originated in Berkeley County and continued all the way into Orangeburg County on I-95 near the Santee exit.
According to troopers, the chase resulted in some delays on I-95 SB with a detour at Exit 98.
Authorities claim the suspect kidnapped his girlfriend and had reportedly violated a restraining order against the woman.
Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson stated that the suspect was scheduled to be in court Thursday morning for a bond revocation hearing.

The suspect has not yet been identified but was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirm that all law enforcement as well as the girlfriend are doing okay.
