Berkeley County Deputies Search For Man Considered Armed & Dangerous

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. -The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted on felony warrants.

Deputies said they are looking for 24-year-old Charles Edward Britt, Jr., of Tea Rose Lane in St. Stephen.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, deputies said responded to a home on Tea Rose Lane in reference to a call about an assault. The assault occurred on 129 Eggleston Way.

Deputies said they met with the victims who stated Britt approached them at their home on Eggleston Way and he was irate. Britt accused the victims of calling the police on him.

During the argument, deputies said Britt grabbed a pole off the ground and hit the victim across the chest with the pole. Britt then grabbed a pistol out of a truck and held it to the victim’s head and pulled the trigger. The pistol misfired and didn’t discharge. Britt then pointed the pistol at one of the victim’s dogs and fired the weapon into the ground. Britt then left the scene. Deputies searched for Britt but did not locate him.

Britt is currently wanted on charges of attempted murder, pointing and presenting (x2), armed robbery, grand larceny, possession of weapon during a violent crime (x2), and possession of weapon during a violent crime by felon (x2).

Deputies said Britt is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
