Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Goose Creek Identified

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who died following a recent crash in Goose Creek.

According to Coroner Darnell Hartwell, the pedestrian is Jonas Reyes De La Cruz, 38, of Goose Creek.

Hartwell said on Monday his office was contacted by a local hospital for a pedestrian who was brought to the emergency room on Feb. 25, 2024, after he was struck by a vehicle on Red Bank Road in Goose Creek.

The coroner said De La Cruz was trying to cross the street when he was fatally struck.

Berkeley County EMS, the Berkeley County Sherriff’s Office and the Goose Creek Rural Fire Dept. responded to the accident, Hartwell said.

This death is being investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
